To celebrate, we threw him a fun-filled Mexican fiesta birthday party-- complete with homemade pico de gallo, a piƱata, photo booth and authentic Mexican sodas (for the adults, of course. Juice boxes for the kids). I really don't think we could have pulled this off without the amazing help of both sets of grandparents who were in town to celebrate with us.
Collin had a cute, "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to," moment when everyone circled around him to sing Happy Birthday. I can't blame him, it was pretty overwhelming. At first he wasn't really digging his cake, but later we gave him another try, after everyone left, and he quickly changed his mind. Mmmm, sugar. :)
So, here are a few shots of the fun day. Thank you to our fabulous friend Laura Means who keenly captured the heart of the celebration with her camera. Enjoy!
Menu: Churros from the Buford Farmer's Market, Homemade Pico de Gallo, Red Cabbage Slaw, Taquitos, Mini- Quiches (since this was a "brunch"), Fruit and Chips and Salsa. Yuum! Mexican Oilcloth tablecloths are the best! Colorful, durable and reusable.
For the brave grown-ups. :)
I covered a regular birthday hat in fabric, made the yarn pom from this tutorial (only using a larger, serving fork) and spelled U-N-O out with old Scrabble tiles.
Sweet boy
