Our New House!

So, the bungalow it is! I'm a bit hesitant to post this because I realize there is always the possibility that things could change, but we agreed upon an awesome price and all the paperwork has been signed. I still get emails from Trulia with local listings and was clicking through some other properties today when Nick reminded me our search is over. What a surreal thought! We know where we will be living now! Closing will be on or before the 22nd of March. If you are interested in reading about our path to homeownership thus far, read here.

So, here is a sneak peek of the winsome craftsman bungalow-ish home from the 1920's. If you are a home buff and by looking at these pics know the exact name of this style of house, please let me know. Take a look!

There are definitely some things that need to be fixed up/ remodeled, but those projects will be happening little-by-little, not all at once. Soon I'll be staring to post ideas for each room from paint to drapery to light fixtures. We'll definitely be hitting up the local flea market and resale shops and doing things on the cheap. I get so much joy from the hunt! I'll also be soliciting advice from any of you green thumbs. The landscaping is in much need of some TLC. I'm excited to start this journey!

As Promised, the Reveal!

Last week I posted a picture of my sweet, albeit grungy, find from a local garage sale. I present to you, the transformation!

A HUGE thank you to the folks at Frugal Fabrics on Peachtree Industrial for having a super sale and carrying this delightful fabric and to Jose from Three Brother's Upholstery in John's Creek, who did this in record time without breaking the bank for me. They do quality work, for half the price of most upholsterers in the area (I did my footwork on this). If you live in the Atlanta area and would like their contact info, just let me know! I'm super pleased with our new living room chair:)

The patina is my favorite feature!

Boomerang Tables and Baby News!

Hey friends! We were really excited to find out we are having a boy! Bring on the snips and snails and puppy dog tails! Baby boy sure has been kicking up a storm this past week. It's all starting to feel so real!

Here are a few shots of us celebrating the news at our favorite, local Thai food, Thai Star.

And here is my official 20 week shot:

In other news, the living room is almost done. Just a few more final details, but I wanted to show you our fabulous curbside save! I'll admit I was a bit skeptical when we first drove past this boomerang coffee table. Thankfully, Nick saw the potential. I love it so much! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but who else owns something like this? I mean, come on!

Fyi, we used Behr paint in Elephant Ear Gray.

And here is our living room in progress! We also found a sweet piece at Goodwill that will soon be our TV stand, but it's still in the garage, waiting for a good sanding and painting.

I'm liking that it's turning out to be sort of a mid-century mod/ bohemian mix!

Sneak Peek...

So, we're getting there. Not totally unpacked, but about 75% done. I present to you this lovely shot of our un-finished, chaotic living room. Oddly enough (because I could have totally seen myself finishing this room first), it's going to be the last thing we wrap up. Stay tuned for a full house tour once curtains and pictures are up!

Other news on the homefront, my fabulous mother-in-law is making our baby's crib bumper and skirt. I'm really, really excited!

The plan (as of right now) is to decorate the nursery in aqua, orange, and yellow. That's "the plan," but really the nursery will be a sort of vintage-mish mash. I want to stay away from getting too matchy-matchy or themed. And, this way we'll be keeping all the major items pretty gender neutral and reusable for future bambinos. P.S. We find out if it's a girl or a boy on April 18th!

She has tasked me with selecting three fabrics and here are my top choices right now:

We're Moving

Hey friends! Well, the time has come to trade our 1920's farmhouse for a modified 1940's bungalow. My husband has a wicked commute to work and it only makes sense to move closer, especially now with baby on the way.

We found a splendid little house that is a mile from his work in downtown Norcross, GA. It's fabulous! He'll be able to trade in rush hour traffic for a morning and evening bike ride AND come home for lunch some days!

We'll be sad to leave our wonderful little community here in Marietta. Our church family has been such a gift! Now, it's our prayer that God allows us to keep in touch with old friends and connects us with a new community. We know He's in this, so it only makes sense that He would take care of the rest...

In the meantime, I'm needing some extra encouragement to get my packing on!
