Reupholstery Reveal- From Dowdy Tuffet to Chic Ottoman

Remember this fun little thrift store find?

Well, it has been completely transformed! The original plan was to reupholster it myself with fabric, but after seeing Collin smash graham crackers into the button holes and smush his runny nose into it a time or two, I decided a wipeaple fabric would be best. 

I knew my lack of upholstery skill was no match for vinyl, so I called up a guy whom my friend recommended. He works at an upholstery shop, but also does jobs on the side from home. His pricing was very reasonable and the cost for two yards of marine vinyl was minimal.

I am so happy with the results! The next upholstery project will be one of the two current living room chairs. Still looking for reasonable, utility grade velvet for the chair pictured. Stay tuned!

From Dowdy Tuffet to Chic Ottoman

The title says it all. I found this Little Miss Muffet stool at a used furniture store for $20 today. My mission is to remove the skirt and reupholster it to my liking. I actually kind of like the emerald green color, but the fabric is thin and torn in places and once I take of the skirt, I'll need to cover the bottom half anyways.

 I love the teal blue velvet ottoman in this room.

But, I'll be happy if it simply doesn't look horrible when I'm finished with it! 

I've been researching reupholstery on Pinterest and it seems do-able. Fingers crossed! I'll be in touch with the results!

This grungy garage sale find had loads of potential and, once spotted on the side of the road, I made my husband turn the car around so we could get a closer look. I plan on revealing its transformation sometime next week...

Vintage Chair Makeovers

I found myself the loveliest Eames Era chair at Goodwill for $7.99. It has such beautiful form, the only problem is that its seat is upholstered in an awful 80's puce fabric:( Good thing I can see past the abomination! Once I am done with the recovering, I'll post pictures. In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite chair makeovers. Hopefully it will inspire you to give an overlooked and seemingly unfortunate chair a new life!
